I am NOT American

To be an American... What does that even mean? Other than the fact that you live in the United States, it means absolutely nothing. Many people associate their nationality to be a great part of themselves ("Proud to be an American"). When really nationality is nothing but an illusion of fake boundaries, and divisions. Have you ever looked at a real picture of earth from space? There are no boundaries. ALL humans, in every nationality, are the same, though we may have different customs, traditions, etc, depending on where you grew up. We ALL have the same wants and needs: security, food, shelter, to be loved, etc. Then why is it that humanity is so divided?
For the longest time I have thought flags are the stupidest things. Such great value, honor, and respect is put into these flags when really, it is just a piece of cloth. A piece of cloth that symbolizes division, separatism, and as I see it, ignorance and arrogance.
It's time for us as a people to start making some changes. It's time to see life for what it really is. It's time to put down the flags, and the pledges, and the borders, and be united as one. As Barrack Obama once said: "We are not the United States of America, but the United States of the World!". It's time to let go of your identity as an American, and just be.
